Following the success (in certain quarters) of Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parreno’s ‘Zidane’, prepare for another documentary profile of a footie icon, albeit in a more conventional mode. According to Serbian director Emir Kusturica (who has also just finished ‘Promise Me This’, a feature about a young man carrying out his grandfather’s dying wish), his profile will show ‘the three Maradonas I’ve discovered during shooting: the football teacher, the politically incorrect citizen… and the family man’. Manu Chao provides the music.
