1. Ladies of the Chorus (1948)
Monroe’s first starring role saw her leap out of the chorus line and into the limelight when her character lands the lead in a burlesque show and locks lips with socialite Randy Carroll (Rand Brooks). Marilyn’s first on-screen kiss wasn’t enough to save her from the Columbia scrap-heap – they canned her after only six months – but this is still a reasonable romp for Monroe completists curious to see her before her image had been fully honed.
