The release of ‘My Week with Marilyn’ on November 25 2011 will again put the spotlight on an actress who was never short of attention during a short but sensational career as an actress in 1950s Hollywood. Gold-digger Lorelei Lee would become one of Monroe’s best-loved characters – largely thanks to her pink-clad performance of ‘Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend’ at the film’s finale, which would go on to be imitated by Madonna, Kylie and many a would-be prom queen. Jane Russell was the brunette showgirl high-kicking alongside Monroe’s Lee who starred in the less successful sequel, ‘Gentlemen Marry Brunettes’.
