Time Out says

The first Laurel and Hardy feature (if one excludes Rogue Song, in which they were merely featured), shot on the sets of The Big House and parodying prison breakout movies. Too slow and rambling to rank with their best, but full of things to treasure like Laurel's raspberry-blowing tooth, and the wonderful blackface musical interlude when the boys hide out in a cotton-picking shantytown.
