Time Out says

3 out of 5 stars

If you loved watching Peggy Olson transform from mousy secretary to creative boss lady in ‘Mad Men’, you might have feminist issues with this retro French romcom. It’s très chic and charming but a bit disappointing when you see where it’s headed.

Déborah François plays Rose, who lands her dream job working for insurance salesman Louis (Romain Duris). Rose is a rubbish secretary but Louis spots that she’s a demon typist, so enters her into a speed-typing competition. Now, I can’t find any Wiki-proof, but competitive typing was apparently a thing for about five minutes in the late ’50s. Rose is a natural, and taps her way to the national finals.Vintage fashion followers will be mad about the prom-style dresses and Rose’s pastel manicure. But the mousy-secretary-pining-for-the-boss storyline is one retro too far.
