During the First World War, impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir seeks refuge in Cagnes-sur-Mer in the hope that the sunny climes will ease the pain of rheumatoid arthritis. In these picturesque surroundings, Renoir meets beautiful model Andree Heuschling. Pierre-Auguste's 21-year-old son Jean, who is injured on the battlefields, arrives in Cagnes-sur-Mer to recuperate. He discovers a passion for cinema and Andree also becomes his muse, providing an unexpected link between father and son.
