Time Out says

McCarey's last film is a dreadful, trashy yarn about two priests in China (Holden and Webb) sticking out for their beliefs against the onslaught of communism. The man had clearly gone feeble-minded. The film is propaganda designed to equate Communism with Satan. China is the Evil Empire here (though it was in fact filmed in England and Wales). As Variety noted, more occurs in the final 15 minutes than in the whole of the rest of the picture. Satan may not sleep, but you will.
