A group of Texans, cut off like some latter-day defenders of the Alamo in the waste land of the Sinai, re-enact the rituals of home while overseeing the Egyptian-Israeli standoff agreement. The enervating boredom of their task (and particularly the official praise they receive for it) is neatly captured by Wiseman's sympathetic, humorous camera. A goldmine for anthropologists, and a good deal more watchable than Wiseman's previous documentary, the seemingly unending Canal Zone.
