Time Out says

The regular Charles Schneer/Ray Harry-hausen adventure formula, but slightly more moth-eaten, with children of the famous (John and Tyrone) menaced or rescued in turn by various metamorphosing creatures of the fantastique as Sinbad and Princess Farah seek to undo the spell on her brother, transformed into a baboon by their wicked stepmother (Whiting). It's difficult at times to tell which of the monsters or humans are being artificially animated.
