A laboured satire of Vatican bureaucracy, this tells a would-be Kafkaesque story of a supplicant's vain attempts to get to the Pope. Only the devoutest Catholics will be able to stay awake to be outraged. As usual, Ferreri avoids the clichés of 'realism', but his mixture of high gloss, caricature, and studied seriousness is even less adequate here than in The Last Woman. TR.Release details
