Moodily stylish Gothic melodrama, with Karloff in a dual role as twins fulfilling a family curse. Solid rather than distinguished (striking sets but too many rhubarbing villagers), although Karloff's performance is outstanding, especially in a subtle pantomime sequence where the bad twin rehearses his transformation into the brother he has killed.Author: TM
