Very much in the vein of Peckinpah and prefiguring the druggy motorcycle emptiness of the early Seventies ‘catwalk hippy’ scene, Manley’s film centres on a groovy motorbike gang running afoul of a local drug-lord on the Tex-Mex border. Veering between the supercharged and the dippily reflective, this was one of the first signs that the cinematic times were a-changin’.
