Time Out says
Howerd plays a Victorian ham actor invited to an eerie stately home, supposedly to entertain. In reality it's a question of inheritance (he's the long-lost heir, and this is The Cat and the Canary all over again). Sykes directs in his best high romantic style (the opening is brilliant) and Howerd restrains himself sufficiently; but though some gags work, towards half time the strain begins to tell and it all falls apart.Release details
