Time Out says

A world-weary misanthrope (Woolley, an unlikely star) finds himself escorting young master McDowall and his brattish sister across France by train to escape the Nazi occupation. Baxter falters as the mademoiselle who comes to their aid, but the film does well by an obviously contrived scenario. Highlight: Woolley squaring up to Nazi major Preminger in the interrogation room. Scripted by Nunnally Johnson from a Nevil Shute novel.
