Time Out says

William Bradford Huie's novel about the production-line life of a Honolulu prostitute came to the screen (adapted by Sidney Boehm) virtually unrecognisable thanks to the good offices of the Production Code. Here the emphasis is on Russell's romantic travails as a dance hall 'hostess' and her ill-starred relationship with wealthy writer Egan, though Agnes Moorehead does inject a sliver of hard reality as the madam who runs the joint. The star looks good in CinemaScope and Technicolor, but as a movie it rarely convinces.
