In 2008, 24 experienced climbers convened on the summit of K2 in the Himalayas. Only 13 of them made it back down. This documentary blends archive footage of the expedition with spectacular landscape shots of the mountain to tell the story of what happened that fateful day. The key inspiration here is obviously 'Touching the Void', and reviews from the 2013 Sundance Film Festival suggest that 'The Summit' is every bit the equal of Kevin Macdonald's career-making documentary, exploring the personal issues that drive people to experience such dangerous conditions. This is director Nick Ryan’s debut feature-length documentary.
