Time Out Film reveal the best movies released on DVD in 2011
This last year has been an impressive one for both DVD and Blu-ray. Aside from the vastly reduced prices – from online suppliers at least – what excited us most was the plethora of vintage, almost forgotten gems from the archives, many of them presented in beautifully restored hi-def editions replete with new, tantalising production featurettes and interviews. The debate on the future of the DVD medium will probably rage throughout 2012, and it may be as soon as next year that we're presenting to you our favourite video on demand and film streams. Anyway, after much deliberation, we present below our 50 favourite releases of this year.
