Vote for your favourite guilty pleasure in our film poll
Vote for your favourite guilty pleasure film to win the ultimate entertainment package from Time Out Live, MGM HD and Guilty Pleasures
We're all for a good dose of culture, but when you're looking for a night of pure entertainment, highbrow cinema just isn't going to do the job. We wanted to pin down the most gloriously cheesy, fuzzily heartwarming, overly emotional and downright fun guilty pleasure in the history of cinema, and we asked you to help us by casting your vote in our poll. See which film you voted as your favourite in the results below.
This August '80s pop takes centre stage as Guilty Pleasures Cinema Party – in conjunction with Time Out Live and MGM HD – transforms the Troxy and brings the silver screen to life with ‘Desperately Seeking Susan’, Madonna's big screen debut.
Along with a full film screening, revellers will be transported to the dizzy heights of hot trash and free-spirited sass - NYC-style - with an '80s disco, go-go dancers, top London cabaret performers, ‘Many Madonnas’ bad look-a-likes, magic acts, dressing up boxes and photo booths. Guilty Pleasures-themed food and cocktails will be on offer all night, and '80s fancy dress positively encouraged.
And if voting just for laughs wasn't enough, you can win an amazing entertainment prize package from Time Out Live, Sky and Guilty Pleasures, including:
- A Sky HD TV Package including MGM HD
- A Golden Ticket to Time Out Live Events
- And a year's free guest list to Guilty Pleasures!*
That's a whole 365 days worth of entertainment excellence, just by telling us your top guilty pleasures flick.
*please see terms and conditions.
The poll and competition have now been closed, but see the results on the Time Out blog and in the graph below.
I am a 38yr old (hetrosexual!) male - quite amazed by people's guilty pleasures, as they are in my cool list : / Whip It = just the best chick flick ever Coyote Ugly = if I am a bit emotional, may actually make me cry at the end She's The Man = makes me giggle like a schoolgirl Spongebob Squarepants Movie = The Hoff as a speedboat Hostel = after a hectic day shopping or a stressful day at work
where's Weird Science? Kelly Le Brock's finest hour by far. Has me in stitches, and about as cheesy as you can get.
blue thunder 1983. just the coolest helicopter ever and roy scheider, saviour of so many 'bad' films.
The Holiday - Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Jack Black... I always feel happy with this movie.
From the list Ferris Bueller, which i don`t feel any guilt over liking. Also Risky Business(Guilty indeed!) & The Breakfast Club, both great when your 15!
Have you people lost your minds? Since when does PT Anderson's masterpiece Boogie Nights warrant comparison with Last Action Hero or Porky's? Boogie Nights might well be the best film of the 1990s. It is far from a "guilty pleasure"... You want a guilty pleasure? Try Blues Brothers 2000.
I wouldn't say that Mean Girls, Carrie, Clueless, or Ferris Bueller's Day Off were at all 'guilty pleasures'! I'm quite happy to admit that I like them and watch them at every opportunity! I think the film I feel guilty about enjoying is The Devil Wears Prada. It's so insubstantial but so so enjoyable!
Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It has to be "Bueller, Bueller" in a mono tone teachers voice - nothing beats that just BRILLIANT
Crush.... about a single woman headmistress in a small english village who falls in love with a much younger man.........
sleepless seattle is great cheesy film but with great intelligence for chicks. my fiance thinks i'm talking crap, but then again he's a bloke!
What is guilty about Boogie Nights, one of the most daring and original movies from director Paul Thomas Anderson who has yet to fail to deliver anything but completely, dizzyingly original?
A lot of these are proud pleasures of mine so i cant really choose. Out of the ones listed Titanic has to be my favorite but I will defend it to my last breath.
Adventures of Ford Fairlane and Stone Cold, Both phenomenally enjoyable. Stallone should put the Boz in the next Expendables.
I agree Boogie Nights 9s a brilliant film, so is Saturday Night Fever, forget the Bee Gees hair, remember how dark it was, that nasty sex scene in the car...
For me it has to be some B-movie horror. The original Piranha screams 'guilty pleasure'. That and the Rambo remake!
