When teen stars turn serious
Ten young actors come of age on the silver screen

-
Daniel Radcliffe in ‘The Woman in Black’ (2012)
Made his name with:
The Harry Potter series (2001-2011), in which Radcliffe played the titular teen wizard and won the hearts of the entire cinemagoing world.
Got serious with:
‘The Woman in Black’, in which Radcliffe starred as fully grown up lawyer Arthur Kipps (he’s even got a kid!) sent to sell a potentially haunted mansion. To be fair, this wasn’t Radcliffe’s first shot at serious acting – he’d been infamously nude on the Broadway stage in ‘Equus’ – but it was the most high profile.
How did it pan out?
So far, so good: ‘The Woman in Black’ was a solid hit, thanks in large part to Radcliffe’s presence. He may have seemed a teensy bit uneasy, but with an upcoming role as Allen Ginsberg (!) in the thriller ‘Kill Your Darlings’, Radcliffe seems determined not to backslide into family fare.

The actor’s next move should be to talk to his agent.

The Woman in Black
Radcliffe is solid rather than spectacular, but that serves the film.
