Zaina: Rider of the Atlas

Time Out says

This Franco-German collaboration has an adult feel, partly because of its immediate engagement with themes such as death, loyalty and retribution, and its moody setting in the dramatic Atlas Mountains of North Africa. In the patriarchal society she lives in, 12-year-old Zaina spends much of her time being told what to do, and saying little. Her journey takes her through treacherous terrain with her tribe’s thoroughbreds, to Marrakesh, where the story culminates in her participation in the famous Agdal horse race. Certain appeal for horse loving teens.
