Jonny Woo: a decade in pictures

After ten years of provocative performance, the cabaret superstar shares his favourite photos

Somehow, Jonny Woo has been performing for a decade. And what a decade it has been – from experimental work in New York City to pioneering London’s own alt-drag scene; from a very near-death experience to becoming a Glastonbury regular. You can see the man himself in the amazing This Is Jonny Woo at Soho Theatre between Nov 9-12 2011.

Time Out asked Jonny to rummage through his old shoeboxes and he’s selected some exclusive special moments from the past decade just for us...

2001: 'We did most of the show in heels and knickers or nude'

‘This is New York performance artist Brandon Olson and I, in a typical pose from our show ‘Go-Go Real’, first performed in NYC in 2001. We did most of the show in heels and knickers or nude. It was all spoken word. I haven’t looked back since and still perform some of the material.’
