London County Hall Travel Inn Capital
You know that design hotels have become positively mainstream when the Travel Inn chain starts imitating the Metropolitan. Since last year, this busy branch has banished its bland, hospital-esque lobby. Style gurus have brought in purple carpets, funky photographs and a postmodern clock without any numbers. The bedrooms have been spruced up, too, even if they aren’t quite Wallpaper* material. Some things haven’t changed, though: the fantastic prices - children can often stay for free (phone ahead to check) - and the prime location, on the Thames near tourist attractions such as the London Eye and Big Ben. Great value hotel for Central London. Pleasant staff and spotlessly clean. Great for sightseeing, thetres, dining out, walking etc etc etc
