Montague on the Gardens
The Montague is a flamboyant tribute to Victorian England. The doormen are dressed in top hats and tails, and the sitting room is decked out like a Christmas tree, with crystal chandeliers, crimson walls and riotous floral upholstery; just the ticket for glamorous grannies. The floral motif extends to the summery conservatory bar, which overlooks the Duke of Bedford’s garden, and to the luxurious bedrooms, where flora covers the curtains, bedspreads and wallpaper. Despite the period glitz, the rooms are thoroughly modern, kitted out with business technology and entertainment; the gym is similarly well equipped. Not quite the Ritz, but a reasonable and reasonably priced facsimile.
