Zetter

Billing itself as a restaurant with rooms, the Zetter is in fact more than that: it’s a fun, laid-back, modern hotel with some interesting design notes. There’s a refreshing lack of attitude – the polyglot staff clearly enjoy their job. The rooms, stacked up on five galleried storeys overlooking the intimate bar area, are sleek and functional, but cosied up with choice home comforts like hot-water bottles and old Penguin paperbacks, while the walk-in Raindance showers are stocked with Elemis products. Those on the St John’s Square side are quieter. Top-floor suites have great rooftop views, and the prices beat the West End hands down. The restaurant does modern Mediterranean food well, its wide picture windows making for amusing people-watching breakfasts.
