Academy Hotel
Comprising five Georgian townhouses, the Academy has a restrained country-house style – decor in most rooms is soft, summery florals and checks, although eight suites have more sophisticated colour schemes. Guests are cocooned from busy Bloomsbury and those in the split-level doubles get plenty of breathing space at decent rates. The library and conservatory open on to fragrant walled gardens where drinks and breakfast are served in summer.
