Piccadilly Backpackers

It’s like Piccadilly Circus, the little doorway currently festooned with scaffolding behind Glasshouse Street. International hostellers swarm into London’s (the world’s?) most central venue, attracted by the rates and location. The accommodation is basic, although graphic art students have painted the rooms on the third floor in an attempt to perk things up a little. Ten rooms feature ‘pods’ – six beds arranged three up, three down, in pigeonhole fashion. In the common room you can surf 100 channels on the widescreen TV or get online in the 24-hour internet café. There’s a travel shop and a backpackers’ bar nearby at 4 Golden Square ().
