Montagu Place
The Montagu is a stylish, small hotel in a pair of Grade II-listed Georgian townhouses. Catering primarily for the midweek business traveller, its 16 rooms are divided into Comfy, Fancy and Swanky categories, the difference being size – Swanky are the largest, with enormous bathrooms, while Comfy are the smallest and, being at the back, have no street views. All rooms have deluxe pocket-sprung beds (queens in the smaller rooms, kings in the two larger categories), as well as cafetières with freshly ground coffee and flatscreen TVs (DVD players are available from reception). The look is boutique-hotel sharp, except the uneasy overlap of bar and reception – though that means you can get a drink at any time and retire to the graciously modern lounge. An affordably classy affair.
