The team behind the highly regarded Five Sumner Place relocated in 2006 to this fine old Georgian townhouse just off the Edgware Road and around the corner from Marble Arch, Oxford Street and Hyde Park. Top interior designers have gone to work on the ground-floor public spaces, which are cool and Nordic in shades of slate and grey. Depending on your predilections the results are either hip and minimal or reminiscent of a Harley Street waiting room. The 20 bedrooms are different in feel, still contemporary but with warmer tones, and the deluxe options feature custom-designed Ligne Roset furniture and huge walk-in showers. Room sizes vary but are generally spacious, and those at the front are bathed in natural daylight from large (triple-glazed) windows.
