New Linden

Part of the excellent group comprising the Mayflower Hotel and Twenty Nevern Square, the New Linden had nearly completed renovations (with just the public rooms in desperate need of an update) as we went to press, but it’s already looking to be as much of an affordable showpiece as its sisters. Bedrooms have white or cream walls, wooden floors and streamlined modern or antique Eastern furnishings. Marble bathrooms (in varied playful designs, some with deluge shower heads), flatscreen TVs and CD players come as standard. Some of the suites have balconies and one split-level family room retains elaborate period pillars and cornicing. The location – just down from the trendy shops on Westbourne Grove, between Notting Hill and Kensington Gardens – is a big plus.
