myhotel chelsea
The Chelsea myhotel feels a world away from its sleekly modern Bloomsbury sister, feeling softer, more feminine – precious certainly, perhaps in both senses. Pink walls, a floral sofa and a plate of scones in the lobby offer a posh English foil to feng shui touches such as the aquarium and candles, elements that doubtless appeal to a slightly older clientele and SW3’s legion shoppers. The feminine mood continues in the rooms with dusky pink wallpaper, white wicker headboards and velvet cushions, although it manages at the same time to feel fresh and modern rather than chintzy (every room has a 21in TV and DVD player). The modernised country farmhouse feel of the bar-restaurant might work better for breakfast than a late-night cocktail, but the conservatory-style library in a central courtyard is a fine place to sink into one of the ample stylish comfy chairs and listen to the water feature or your own choice of CD. The myhotel Jinja room offers treatments if the elegant free weights have proved a temptation too far.
