Riverside Hotel

There are changes afoot at the Riverside – but not anything to spoil the tranquil view by the Thames Footpath, a short walk but a world away from the traffic-choked high street at Richmond’s centre. The family that has run the Riverside for the past two decades – it has been a hotel since the 1930s – is converting eight rooms into flats, leaving a dozen still rented out to guests at reasonable (and negotiable) rates. All, comfortable and high-ceilinged, are done out in traditional style, and the hotel is within easy reach of Richmond Park and Kew Gardens.
