Twenty Nevern Square
The words ‘stylish’ and ‘Earl’s Court’ don’t usually appear in the same sentence, but it’s the less-than-posh location of this immaculate boutique hotel that keeps the place’s rates reasonable. Tucked away in a secluded (private) garden square, it feels far away from its less-than-lovely locale. The modern-colonial style was created by its well-travelled owner, who personally sourced many of the exotic furnishings (as well as those in even cheaper sister hotel the Mayflower). Rooms are clad in a mixture of Eastern and European antique furniture, and sumptuous silk curtains and bedspreads; in the sleek marble bathrooms, toiletries are tidied away in decorative caskets. The beds are the real stars, though, from elaborately carved four-posters to Egyptian sleigh styles, all with luxurious mattresses. The Far East feel extends into the lounge and the airy conservatory bar-cum-breakfast room, with its pale walls and dark wicker furniture.
