Vancouver Studios

Vancouver Studios is almost a contradiction in terms: a good-looking budget hotel. The countrified sitting room is cosy and funky, with Mexican upholstery, cacti and an old-fashioned gramophone. It opens on to a lush, walled garden with a gurgling fountain. Studio rooms come equipped with kitchenettes. For the price, the bedrooms are surprisingly stylish. Being refurbished as we go to press (check the website or call for details of when the work is due to be completed), Vancouver Studios’ proposed new aesthetics will include nautical, country fresh gingham and Far Eastern chic. Staff are friendly and so is the resident cat. A great deal.

Services

Concierge. Internet (dataport, shared terminal). TV.

VS is great. Me and my buddies stay every single year when we go to the NH Carnival, and it's always perfect. The rooms are clean and well appointed, and the staff are always super-friendly.
The location is superb. Close enough to the action to get there on foot, yet far away enough to avoid the hustle bustle.
Like most things, i judge it on merit, and always ask if what's on offer is providing good value for what is charged. VS is still great value.
I love this place. Stay there and you'll love it too.

Vancouver Studios is a decent hotel, clean, and in a fabulous location. It's on a relatively quiet street just off Queensway, a major thoroughfare, and right near several tube stations. The neighborhood is fabulous and very busy with tourists and locals.
My room was small, as is the norm for Europe, but clean. The bed was comfortable. The kitchenette was just enough, and the ensuite bath is key. There are several markets nearby, an easy walk.
TV reception was bad, but then again, this is London. What are you doing watching tv?
Note - there are no non-smoking rooms, but they'll change you to a less stinky one if the person before you smoked up a storm. Also note that, as in most small European hotels, be prepared to hike the stairs!
