Here's one place I never thought I'd get to stay, but a surprise one-night honeymoon treat changed all that. The hotel itself is swanky as hell and you can tell immediately where they get the 5* status from: the staff were AMAZING. Helpful, nice, going the extra mile for everything. The views are also pretty gasp-inducing - we were on the 35th floor and if you are planning on staying and dishing out the vast amount of cash anyway, I'd recommend going for as good a view as you can get. It's the main reason for The Shard, after all. Well, that and the infinity swimming pool. Which was also a big perk. We went up to the cocktail bar on the 52 floor at night and London looked lovely and twinkly. Exceptionally pricey, but if you're looking for ultimate London luxury, then this place is where it's at.
