Museum dedicated to telling the story of the life of the hugely popular writer who captured the imaginations of children and adults with such stories as 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', 'The Witches' and 'Tales of the Unexpected'. Dahl's wish was that his drafts, manuscripts, letters and photos should remain together in the UK, and they are all housed in this former coaching inn - as well as being available in an online, searchable archive. Visitors can learn about Dahl's life through interactive displays, films, photographs and other exhibits. There are also plenty of games to play with and books to read, and information on contemporary writers such as JK Rowling and Philip Pullman who have been inspired by Dahl. When they enter the Story Centre, children are given an Ideas Book to use, as Dahl did, to write down their thoughts to turn into stories.
