Developed on a piece of wasteland in collaboration with local children, artists and musicians, Discover is a magical world where under-eights embark on a story trail, aided and abetted by fantastic characters whose role is to help kids invent their own stories. Dressing-up outfits, finger puppets, drawing materials and the Story Garden outdoor play area – with slides, greenery, monsters and funny mirrors – help fuel young imaginations. 'City of Stories' is a temporary exhibition exploring legends and traditional tales from east London's Bengali, Polish, Roma, African, Albanian, English and Tamil communities. Designed by artist Cathy Wren and composer Jon Owen, the exhibition features magic furniture such as chairs that tell stories (until Aug 31). This week's activities include making cat's ears and tails (Sat & Sun 11.30am & 2.30pm), trying out street dance (Mon 11.30am & 2.30pm), and boarding the Jolly Roger pirate ship with a home-made sword (Wed 11.30am & 2.30pm).
