  • Part of Wimbledon Bookfest and the Polka's annual literary festival, this day is a chance for kids to take part in painting and writing workshops and hear authors, illustrators and poets read and talk about their work. Main Theatre events: Charlie Higson talks about his 'Young Bond' books (11am, age 9+); Michelle Magorian on 'Goodnight Mr Tom' and her new book 'Just Henry' (1pm, age 10+); Paul Kieve, magician and consultant on the 'Harry Potter' films performs tricks and illusions (3pm, age 8-12); Children's Laureate Michael Rosen reads some of his stories and poems (5.30pm; age 5+). Adventure Theatre events: Andrew Cope talks about his 'Spy Dog' series (1pm, age 7+); talk by author and illustrator Andy Ellis (3pm; age 4-7); Jamila Gavin, author of 'Coram Boy' talks about her new mystery 'The Robber Baron's Daughter' (5pm; age 8+). Workshops: portrait painting (11am, age 9+); paper pop-ups (1pm, age 7+); write a play in a day (3pm, age 8+).
