It's a Kids Thing
If you find the decibel levels and commotion of bigger play centres unbearable, this sociable, small-scale outfit will come as a welcome alternative. Children swarm over the two-tier play zone and soft-play area while their parents look on from the café; there’s a decent kids’ menu, with the option to swap chips for mash, potato wedges or half a jacket potato. Grown-ups fill up on pastas, salads and panini as their offspring play; come the weekend, it’s all about relaxing over an all-day fry-up and the papers. The activities schedule includes baby ballet, sing and sign and messy art; check the timetable for details of free singing and dance sessions for toddlers.

Although this is small compared to most soft play areas, it seems to keep the kids well occupied for the two hour slot and has been one of their favourite places to go since they were toddlers (now 6). For the grown ups it is much less manic than the big play places and, as you have to have a table in the cafe, everyone is guaranteed a seat. Food is decent. We like to go early at the weekend (best to book) when it is fairly quiet and have a cooked breakfast while the kids play. Staff are friendly and helpful and there are often little extras like a singalong and dance in the party room when there isn't a birthday on. Good for public transport but parking on the road is free on a Sunday.
