When you can still vividly remember a book from your childhood, you know it’s one worth passing on to your children. First published 30 years ago, John Burningham’s book  is a gleefully nonsensical series of imaginary choices: ‘Would you rather… an elephant drank your bath water, an eagle stole your dinner, a pig tried on your clothes or a hippo slept in your bed.’ The interactive element that makes kids engage their imaginations is surely what makes it a keeper.
