The big temporary exhibition at the Horniman in 2010 delves into the origin of mythical creatures such as cyclopes, looks at the links between the dinosaurs and dragons and examines whether the yeti could be a real creature. Among the legendary beasts represented animatronically are a cyclops, a unicorn and the strange chimera, composed of lion, goat and snake parts. The exhibition was first shown at the Natural History Museum in 1998.
