A display about public health in between-the-wars Bermondsey. Looking at the borough council's interwar public health work, the display includes leaflets, photos and educational films produced from the 1920s onwards under the guidance of husband and wife Alfred and Ada Salter, MP and Mayor for Bermondsey respectively. The council customised a series of vans to become 'cinemotors', powered by adapted lampposts, as a portable means of projecting films that extolled the virtues of cleanliness and warned of the dangers of disease. Four such films can be seen via a recreated 'cinemotor'. Other exhibits include documentation relating to plans for the Grange Road Health Centre, a beacon of modernism, and its purpose-built solarium, the first in the country.
