Around 50 paintings by late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century artists bequeathed to the borough by art collector Cecil French in1953, including 26 by Edward Coley Burne-Jones, among them 'Cupid Delivering Psyche', and works by Frederic Leighton, Lawrence Alma Tadema and George Watts. The Cecil French Bequest has been housed since 1983 at the Leighton House Museum, where seven of the paintings are on permanent display and others can be viewed on request.
