The eccentric town of Portmeirion welcomes gloriously freaky pop legend Grace Jones and arty-rockers Belle and Sebastian to headline a strong line-up

Grace Jones, Belle and Sebastian, Kate Tempest, Ghost Poet, The Two Bears, Andrew Weatherall, Stornoway, Young Fathers, Rae Morris + more

The incredible, surreal Mediterranean-style seaside resort of Portmeirion hosts the fourth outing of what's becoming one of the top alternative festivals in the country. There's always a fantastic selection of acts (indie guitar-twiddlers, arty rock types, underground DJs and more) and a strong focus on arts, poetry, spoken word, readings and other cultural tidbits at this blissful escape from reality. There'll also be a Woodlands stage curated by a different artists each day: Badly Drawn Boy, Dutch Uncles and Jane Weaver will be doing the curating, bringing in an impressive and suitably eclectic range of bands, DJs and musicians.

I went to the first one of these and for a first time festival, it was really well organised. If you've never been, I'd highly recommend this one. Firstly, you are not just stuck in a field, there's the town and the castle area, as well as secret parties in the woods to go find. Can't tell you how beautiful Portmeirion is too...though people shouting 'I am not a number' on a regular can get on your tits ; )
