The spirit of the late great Charles Mingus - intelligent, eccentric, anarchic and hard as nails - is present in this seven-piece outfit named after his 1959 album. Boasting original members of Mingus' previous groups they keep the maverick bassist's music alive and kicking today. The band features bassist Boris Kozlov, drummer Donald Edwards, pianist Orrin Evans, altoist/flautist Craig Handy, tenorist Wayne Escoffery, trumpeter Alex Sipiagin and trombonist/singer Frank Lacy.
