Exiled from her homeland in South Africa for 30 years by the apartheid regime, Miriam Makeba took her distinctive xhosa singing style to the world and became a global icon long before the term 'world music' gained currency. Her powerful, deeply resonant voice can carry a poignant protest song as eloquently as a traditional African lullaby and this - an all too rare appearance by the star with some incredible guests (particularly vocalist Maal) is an unmissable gig.

This is a tribute / celebration, not featuring her - Time Out have it wrong
Considering Miriam Makeba died some time ago, I find it very unlikely that she will be making an appearance at the Barbican as your listing would suggest...
