Having first come to public attention through his viral hit 'Post 9-11 Blues', and since come to even broader public attention through his starring role as a terrorist in 'Four Lions', Riz MC is clearly not afraid to stick his head above the minaret and try something new. The good news for whichever members of the security services are currently following Riz is that his latest venture at least promises them a grand night out. Riz has chosen to present his forthcoming debut album, 'MICroscope', in an immersive, interactive and downright conceptual style, blending music with film, art and theatre to exciting effect.

Previewed in work-in-progress form to rapturous reception at Sadler's Wells earlier in the year, 'MICroscope' examines increasing role of sonic warfare in our daily lives, from the inescapably catchy ad jingle to the 'mosquito frequency' deterrent devices used to shoo teenagers from takeways to the heavy metal blasted at detainees in cargo containers in certain Middle Eastern territories. Riz himself describes it as 'like an '80s cartoon version of “Blade Runner” ', which sounds good to us.

Other than that, it's quite complicated. But from what we can work out, there's an element of a 'Choose Your Own Adventure' book about it, and certain flashpoints are used to focus attention on developments in the narrative, so there's little chance of you getting lost. There's even an aftercare facility, in the form of an interactive online trailer, which Riz hopes to develop further in the future.
