Few UK bands have carved a more inventive, original and fascinating path through music than Mark E Smith's enduring post-punk gang. Equally likely to be a shambolic disaster as an utterly compelling groove machine, they change lineup more often than the sharp-tongued, crumple-faced curmudgeon changes his socks. Aside from his partner, keyboardist Elena Poulou, who knows who'll be onstage this evening, but if The Fall are on form, they'll set the air crackling with electricity, even at this rather odd choice of venue.
