One half of Fridge, Adem Ilhan, whose indietronica shows a more conventional bent than that of his mate, Kieran Hebden and who shifted more toward conventional songcraft with his 2006 sophomore album, 'Love And Other Planets'. Here he plays from his brand new album, 'Takes' (Domino), a collection of covers of tracks released between 1991-2001 (Smashing Pumpkins, Yo La Tengo…), which were influential on the young Adem. In support, acoustic folkie Elizabeth plays from her debut album, 'Battle And Victory' (Leaf), which highlights her multi-instrumental talents (22-string Celtic harp, Appalachian dulcimer, bazouki, Indian harmonium…) and her fragile, breathy vocals.
