Enduringly popular Irish singer-songwriter whose mellifluous tones and passionate folk songs straddle four decades and numerous genres. That his roots lie in Irish tradition is unquestionable (his membership of The Johnstons and Planxty plus his classic duets with fiddler Tommy Peoples attest to this) but since the '80s, he has consistently tried to find a mid-Atlantic style and his last album, 'Oh What A World' was recorded in Nashville. Nu-folk singer-songwriter Emily Maguire, who counts Bach, Bob Marley and Buddha as her three biggest influences, supports.
