'I had NIK HEYWARD on my bedroom wall!' - my sister squealed with delight last night as he belted out BOY MEET GIRL. Me and my two sisters danced and sung crazily to the songs we once brought in to music class as 45 vinyl s on last day of school term cira 1982. All acts blasted out their No.1 hits with Belinda Carlisle sounding fantastic and looking younger than she did twenty years ago (maybe some work done). Paul Young (used to be) wouldn't win a karaoke competition of his own songs! bless'im. Bananarama had us all singing our tonsils out.. ' Im you Venus. I'm your fire...." Kid Creoloe And The Coconuts ended show in style - Purple suit, large rimmed hat, 'Moody eyes' on percussion and half a dozen sexy female dancers with tightly sprung mid-rifts exposed (my favourite) - I sullenly realized however that all the dancers had not even been born when the songs were first released and my middle aged fat hairy navel mid-rift was sticking out from under my baggy shirt. Bubble burst. Good night though. Hi to my forever young sisters! x x
